On 16 November 1980, Jayan was killed in an accident on the set of the movie Kolilakkam ( English: Shockwave). The climactic scene of the movie was being filmed in Sholavaram, near Madras, Tamil Nadu. Jayan always performed his own stunts, and for this undhati is a Indian Telugu dark fantasy horror film directed by Kodi Ramakrishna and written by Chintapalli Ramana, starring Anushka Shetty, Sonu Sood, Arjan Bajwa and Sayaji Shinde.
The film was released on 16 January to positive reviews and emerged as a commercial success, also became second highest grossing Telugu film of all- time.
